I began this denim odyssey just over two year ago. I had a few pairs of LVC 55s but something inside told me there was more. So I googled LVC and hit upon some threads in SuFu, and then in Style Forum. Do you remember what it was like to first find all this stuff. And I came across a reference to Sugar Cane and I googled that, and it brought back to more threads in the same places. And a world the Japanese selvage was opened up to me. And I would re-read LA Guy's second top ten of the best jeans every day and hunt them down on the internet and oh boy did I waste some serious billing time.

In the those first heady weeks I kept going to back to one site that proved to me that there was better denim out there - a diary of Sugar Cane denim aging. I got onto to Ebay and bought my first pair of Sugar Cane 1947s from the Japanese Denim Store and boy were they a find. However, over time I've found I prefer the slimmer cut. I've since settled on Eternal 811 and after sampling the wears of Studio D'Artisan as well, I do find the best fit for me is a slim fitting...LVC 1955 shrink to fit. After all that I'm come full circle. I'm not into stacking or hemming - the leg length doesn't need altering, the shape if flattering when I'm in decent nick weightwise.

Back to that site I mentioned. It showed the aging of a pair of Sugar Cane 1947s. I'm sure regulars to the Sugar Cane thread will be familiar with it. But I'd lost the bookmark and now I've found it again. And it is still the best denim aging diary around.

This is why we get into all this nonsense. Enjoy. Scroll down the page and keep on hitting the 'Next' button.

Ryu's site is one of my favorite denim-related sites. Very inspirational.

I started digging around in the same way, milkman. A link to a link to a link, etc. Lots of fun and a massive time killer. The best part now is putting a page like Ryu's into google translate and trying to decipher the engrish. Next up, I really want to go to Japan.
