I got to drive the all new tundra last week as well as some of its competition, f150 , ram , silverado, titan, and all i have to say is wow. This truck is leeps and bounds above its competition. I got to drive all of them on a small road course once with 1000lbs in the bed, once towing a trailer, and another time mimmicking normal drivng conditions. It was weird flooring a truck while towing a horse trailor then slamming on the brakes to test an ABS Stop. Accelleration, handling, build quality and braking are far beyond the compeitions.....if anyone looking for a truck, id seriously reccomend this.

Toyota's problem will be the same as for Nissan with the Titan. This is the demographic least likely to be impressed by features or facts. Price and domestic nameplate are what is important. Does not matter if the DCX, GM or Ford vehicle would be a complete turd, it is unlikely they would switch to a foreign vehicle. Even if it is made in the USA with the domestic made in Canada or Mexico.

A bit off-topic but I was just wondering:

Would anybody care to give an opinion regarding Honda's pick-up? How is the American market receiving this?

I am going to agree with the OP. I worked on Toyota's and graduated with a college degree from the TTEN. The Toyota Tundra is the only truck I have ever driven that accelerated like a car. I mean really jumpy from the line in a stock trim, with a SuperCharger they are insane. Skalogre is right though, most back woods redneck truck owners will only go with what their "Great Grand Pappy" drove (be it Ford, Chevy, Dodge) and "Dont want to touch them *** Cars" dispite them being more American than an American car.

About the fugly Honda PU. It got good reviews from Consumer Reports (which means absolutely nothing, as CR is total ****). I imagine that for a "round town" truck its fine but not something you would want to tow a considerate amount with or go off road with.

a flag, a slow guitar solo, a ruggedly handsome man in plaid, sometimes with his son, and lumber; lots of lumber.

I cant believe they dont have more steel mills in Chevy/Ford ads (simpsons refference). Toyota is already building Tundras in Texas. Actually they are building a lot of cars in the US, and the quality has been a bit down since they have been (lots of recalls on newer body Siena Vans built in the states, mostly for stupid **** like Seatbelt Bezels, Radiator leak, PS line leak, etc)

RE: the Honda Ridgeline pickup.

The annoying sloped bed-sides make it seem less functional for work uses. Occasionally it is nice, if not neccesary to strap plywood or dimensional lumber across the bed of a truck to use as a platform for a miter saw or a ladder, or just to stand on. The (aesthetic?) decision to make the bed sloped is a bad one IMO.

I've been fond of Toyota trucks ever since Back To The Future.
