Savers or Value Village is a for profit thrift donating some proceeds to charities. Their pricing matrix thus is profit motivated. In my area shirts do start at $9.99 and they do sell. I did buy an almost new Borrelli shirt for 19.99 after all and not complaining. If it was cheaper, it would not wait for me.

Over here they will sell a BB shirt for less then a Gap outlet shirt. God forbid they get their hands on a Express shirt... that goes to moon . Non-Name brand shoes are 19$++ and so on...

But, the store is clean and well lit and the bathrooms don't smell. I can see how it appeals to some...

Agreed. I'm not sure we've even had a Prorsum posted in the thread, ever. That's just a real old Burberry.

Yes, obviously not Prosum...however, the older, made in England Burberry stuff is excellent quality, very well-made and fairly timeless in that very traditional English sort of way. It's the Burberry's made in the USA stuff that is total crap.

IMO burberry isn't worth picking up. most of what's in thrifts is the old stuff, and the new "good" stuff is just relabeled HF with a "burberry" thrift markup. burberry seems to be the one brand that consistently triggers the thrift store worker "WE MUST PRICE THIS SUIT AT $199!!!!!" alarm bells.

Only worthwhile Burberry I've picked up thrifting was a polo-style shirt made in England w/nova check. Fetch $60 to $80 used, each, on eBay. Made the mistake of picking up a couple regular US-made sport coats before I knew better...

My wife has Saddleback envy. I have a medium briefcase and a messenger daybag/ipad bag and she's noticed.

She asks, "I want to know the equivalent of saddleback leather for women's purses. I like the one I have but it is cheapish." She has a Wilson's leather one. Upgrade time.

Guidance? Sturdy leather style that will last is what she wants.

Their newer "Burberry London" stuff that's made in the USA is made by Hickey Freeman. I just sold a navy blazer like this.

Better than Coach would be Dooney and Burke. Check their outlet store which is about 50% off. Website has styles.

ehhh??

I guess it's a copy.

It's hard to tell much from picture, but looks like a print. The signature could be printed on when they created the print or it could be an actual signature. With Picasso neither are going to make you much money since he pumped out so much stuff, but a signed piece is always kind of cool.

Either way, it looks nice, so i would have picked it up for my walls.

Did you check the back for a certificate? That can usually tell you a lot more info about a piece, but I have noticed one of the GW's I visit has started tearing the paper backing off of art. I guess looking for hidden money or something.

Well, speaking of Burberrys', I picked up an odd jacket today. It's the second one I've picked up and both came from the same local men's store. Both felt/looked unworn. The first one I picked up was for myself, fits really well and it's a dark tartan with neat buttons. This one is a few sizes bigger, but I'd wear it in a heartbeat if it were my size. It's a dark green with a tan/brown over check. Side vented and a ticket pocket. Both are made in Germany...I'm not sure who actually made them in all honesty. I'm open to guesses/ideas.

Next is a Hugo Boss suit. Possibly new, the pants were only "hemmed" by about 2-3cm. Most of my new pants are hemmed by 15 or more centimeters, so does that make this unhemmed? Anyway, there might not be a lot of interest here, but it is the khaki Fellini/Movie model. Super 120s with patch pockets and flat front pants, center vent. Kind of neat in my opinion.

Finally, I've admired this for over a month. It was never marked with a price, so I finally pulled it off of the wall and had them price it. It's a watercolor...or a print, it's sometimes hard to tell with watercolors. I am leaning towards original simply because I don't think there would be many prints done by this German artist. I don't have an exact date, but he lived from the '20s-'80s. If it's original, I think it should be worth a decent amount.

picked up a nice Cantarelli linen/wool unstructured SC @ NMLC for $125, and a linen Canali Kei SC for $99 at nordstrom rack. Both are at the tailors now, but they are both very rad! Will try to get pics soon.

This is shocking to me. I basically only shop at Saver's (in RI) and this pricing seems ridiculous to what I see. Maybe the sales staff at your saver's are more knowledgeable of menswear? For instance, in the ones near me the only stuff that can be pricey is PRL and that mostly due to it being probably the only menswear brand the guys in the back have heard of. Can usually pick up J. Press or BB Shirts in the $5 dollar range. SC/Blazers in the $10 - $15 range.
