I saw The Band at the Fillmore East, on Second Ave. NYC, in 1969. As I recall they were great. I also saw Hendrix, Janis J., The Doors, The Grateful Dead (with Ron McKiernan), The Allman Bros., and Spirit at the Fillmore East 1969. There are some advantages to being "mature"
Wore out my 'best of' compilation. Don't Do It is a classic. Liked Robbie Robertson's post-Band output, but it's not The Band.
His stuff is OK. I'd much rather listen to Levon Helm, who is still touring extensively. I need to get some tickets soon.
Long Black Veil, Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Stagefright and so many more masterpieces. People do not fully appreciate the Band.
