Middle of the thumb is where it "should" hit from what I learned, but I don't think that looks too long to me. The lengths are a bit aritrary anyways as people's arms are different lengths. The back covers your backside, which, to me, is the main thing in a jacket :)

The body length looks perfect to me. The sleeves maybe just a hair too long. I'd have my shirt coming to about that length, and would want my jacket about 1cm shorter so you can see the ends of the sleeves.

I very much agree with this for any retailer. Black Friday has gotten people so accustomed to massive discounts that they look at anything else as less than is their right, and that is part of the broken economic system we live in, in my opinion. I prefer to support companies that provide a...

    How to stop overdressing

This point of men's style changing gradually over time is very true. Sports coats were actually worn for doing sports 100 or so years ago, and the suit evolved as a more casual version of what men were wearing in the day, that eventually got adopted. Even black tie used to be considered much...

    How to stop overdressing

This has been a very interesting thread to read. I agree with those who are calling for some situational awareness in this case. Particularly given that the OP was asking for advice on what he could wear to bring about the style he wanted to portray at work. I would second the comments about...

    J FitzPatrick Appreciation Thread

I haven't worn Carmina, but now have 4 pairs of Justin's shoes (after visiting his shop in September). I agree that they are very easy to break in- only the cap toe oxfords that I bought have required any breaking in at all. The chukkas and 2 pairs of suede derbies have been a breeze...

I received my code after placing my first order (which I purchased without a code).

I also second this, and received a discount code. Not sure where I put it though :)

Everyone I've heard talk on the subject recommends cedar, but I haven't actually looked further into beech.

When I went past the Vass store in Budapest last year the prices were about $400USD. Sadly, the shop was closed both times I had time to visit because it was Sunday both times.

It's more a question of how you feel. Given the climate where you live, I'd tend to go unlined personally. I have a fully unlined jacket from Bonobos and an unlined three piece suit from a local MTM shop here in Toronto. Both bought specifically for work in hot climates, which I visit...

I also got mine from Amazon over the past couple of summers and have been very happy with them.

I just ordered the VBC wool/silk/linen blend high rise trousers from SS23. I've been really loving the blue in them all season, and now that they're 20% off I pulled the trigger :) https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/blue---high-rise-5859017-hr-01-ss23

The one time I went I booked an appointment, but I wanted to be fitted for a suit. Didn't end up buying, but have used the measurements they took to buy trousers since then.

I'm afraid I haven't tried SM's custom shirts, but I absolutely love the ones I've had done at Proper Cloth. I do have the PC soft Ivy collar on a few shirts and quite like it. Most of my trousers are from SM at this point, and I'm looking at more in their SS collection as we speak :)

you'll pay the tax, you'll pay the 18% duty, then 13% of the 18% as well. That was one of the things I really hated to see when I was looking into the duties I paid last month on a couple of purchases. :(

You'll pay HST on top of the duties, plus a brokerage fee to the company who's delivering. I'll leave carbon taxes out of the equation.
