This is a listing for an incredible, new-with-tags Polo Ralph Lauren sportcoat. Made in Italy to the highest standards. Half canvas construction. Manufactured by Corneliani.
It is tagged a 40R US / 50R EU, and runs true to size (see measurements below)
This jacket is a RARITY because Corneliani has ceased producing jackets of this quality and fit for Polo Ralph Lauren. The new Polo jackets are fused (rather than half canvas) and have fit proportions that some connoisseurs consider to be non-classical. The new jackets are much shorter in length, have higher button stances, etc. Not only that, but it is a NEW WITH TAGS. You won't find many NWT Corneliani for Polo jackets around for much longer. Production has been phased out and stock is dwindling.
This one has great characteristics for a casual jacket: half canvas construction, lightly padded shoulders, a JFK-style "3-roll-2" button stance, and patch pockets. The icing on the cake are the genuine animal horn buttons.
The quality of the 100% WOOL fabric on this sportcoat is superb. It is a heavy weight "Shetland" tweed. Three season weight. Especially helpful in the cooler months. Polo Ralph Lauren sources fabrics from some of the best mills in the world for its sportcoats. This jacket is no exception. You will not be disappointed!
The weave/pattern can be described as "herringbone." The colors of the threads in the cloth can be described as black and "off-white." The effect is that the jacket appears light grey from a distance, and as such, I have listed this jacket in the eBay "grey" color category.
