Definitely not old. Possibly gay but would have to pay attention to your mannerisms very possibly gay though. Defintiely not fat.

Daniel Craig's Bond wore a shawl-collar cardigan on his boat toward the end of Casino Royale and again when he visited Mathis in Quantum of Solace. Consider him dressed like an old man or a fop at your peril.

If it's good enough for James BOnd, it's good enough for me.

The cardigan in the OP requires a certain youthfulness to pull off.

a cardigan can be a great staple piece in the wardrobe if worn properly. I would wear the one in the picture and i am barely pushing 27, but I would wear it way differently than pictured. Whether or not it's going to be perceived as old man-ish or stylish is going to depend on how you wear it.

But thanks for the honest answer. It may or may not affect the way I dress, but I'll definitely take it into consideration. I rarely dress that flamboyant though. Just felt like having some fun that night.

Being in L.A. also, I hate that it never gets cold enough to need winter clothes.

I like cardigans. I'd say the color of the cardigan and the rest of your outfit will determine if it works or not. Also if they're well fitted or baggy can make the look "younger" or "older."

I love the colors in your outfit. Could I get an ID on those pants?

They're distracting, bringing attention to your feet. So are the laces, actually. At least the socks only show when seated and aren't, say, green-striped. Style Forum endorses flashy footwear and maybe flashy socks, but they sometimes don't help the wearer in the real world.

Rules for wearing cardigans:
1. Go one size smaller - baggy means older.
2. Wear a white shirt underneath said smaller cardigan.
3. The darker the better. Pink, light brown, light grey, etc - no good. Navy blue or black.
4. Double breasted cardigan? Yes!! They're on Ebay. Enjoy.
A classic, stylish look. When I see a guy doing numbers 1-4, I think, ****, why didn't I do that?

I've tried wearing cardigans. They make me look like Mr. Rogers.

I agree that you either have to be either a 20 year-old gay hipster or a 65 year-old geezer to pull it off. But handsome, well-built men can wear almost anything and have it look good (cf. Daniel Craig above), if that helps.
