I've never thought of even wearing a blazer. Here's en extract of a post I made about the different types of jackets and what I liked in them to help some sufu members, the blazers entry was quite short, as you can see:

"Blazers: I know we use the term for jackets not part of a suit but in reality they're usually restricted to navy (sometimes black, white and even green if you're Irish or a talented golfer) jackets with gold buttons, they look old mannish and are only fine if you're on your yacht in Saint-Tropez with a girl that looks like a young Brigitte Bardot on your arm, wearing a bikini and your too big for her captain hat cocked to the side. Even then you'll probably be dead by the end of the film while she cavorts with a handsome, young sailor who definitely does not wear a blazer."

I think the university crest buttons are kind of cool but I actually prefer the monogrammed ones on my blue blazer.

That shade of brown horn, I am told, is the English Eliteâ„¢ standard for navy odd jackets that do not have blazer buttons. Lighter horn would be more American, and more geographically appropriate, I admit.

I also admit a weakness for the ticket pocket, but after many years of experimentation, I have found it is the least offensive spot for an electronic communication, internet and calendar slavery device. Some day, I will not have to carry one, but not yet. I don't like the feel of such devices in other pockets.

Patch pockets would have been nice, and I might revisit that in a verison in navy Golden Bale. I don't mind having more than one navy blue jacket.

I like that clever imagery. I see what you are saying, but the context of my work dress is probably far more open than yours. I can and do commit the sins of formal elements in casual wear and casual elements in business wear all the time. Whether this is sartorially advanced or marsupialed, well, is an open question.

I wear a fair amount of pattern and color...just not in that photo.

15/16 oz Minnis flannel. My trouser cuffs range from 1.75" in to 2"...cycling back and forth as the years go by. That's a 2" version, just like farmer.

I have one with enameled college crest buttons. As you might expect, to wear it except ironically is quite dangerous. If I could get them enameled blue instead of crimson, it would be perfect.

I have an upcoming project with engraved initials on sterling buttons...but not my initials. Instead, I am having my son's initials done. I plan on giving him the set when he goes off to university (assuming he does) and also assuming that people in the far distant future still wear tailored clothing and not, say, jumpsuits.

I'll vote against school crest buttons, if only because my institution loves such insignia too dearly. It makes me

. They'd be especially egregious on a bright 'n' shiny new blazer; less actionable, perhaps, on an older coat with a touch of the tatty. Definitely do not recommend them for those fresh from the halls of academia, lest it look like the wearers are striving.
