Perhaps, but my objection was not to the lack of tie boaner, but the scale of the knot relative to the collar. I have a couple of ties like this, and I'll use a half-windsor to give it some heft. I know that's against the orthodoxy, but there it is.

I'm not a knot nazi so whatever you like... I do think people overthink the collar size/tie knot thing here and the dimble thing.

Thanks for the comments SB and Ed. I've never tied anything other than a standard FIH, but I'm willing to try other options. And it's nice to hear comments from the guy who actually made the tie, one of the reasons why I like supporting SF-local businesses.
