Don't take this the wrong way. You're a good dude so I know you won't. But there are dudes that wear colorful socks well. There are dudes that wear colorful pocket squares well. They are the same dudes. You have decided you're not in the second category. Ergo....

What I'm saying is, if I saw the top half and the bottom half on the same morning, I'd think some classily dressed gent somehow confused his 6-yr old daughter's sock drawer for his own that day. With some of your fits I think it seems like you haven't quite decided "who you are" that day. Like you're trying to be Manton up top and then Tiralleur on bottom. Both those guys consistently look great, but they're the same guy all the way through. It doesn't look like theyre putting together fits so that they can maximize the number of different WAYWRN-type threads they can post in on a given day.

What's wrong with Stitchy's socks today has nothing to do with "who he is" today. If he had on a dark suit, white shirt, dark tie, no square, black shoes, and those socks, he'd be fine. Maybe not to everyone's taste, but... The problem is that the red neither matches nor complements anything else he's wearing today. Based on the picture, they actually clash with the tone of the shoes. More than anything, they're just random.

Also, a point of order: Stitchy, if the whole fit wouldn't pass muster as tasteful, then you probably shouldn't post it in this thread. If you wouldn't post a pic of the socks here, then maybe take a pass for the day.
