What tie to wear with a fine purple stripe shirt?

There is literally no way you'll be able to convince me that a shirt with a purple stripe is totally outside the canon of classic menswear (with or without capital letters).

In answer to your question, dark green or brown. Burgundy can work. Bright red is too much color.
....agreed 100%. This anti-purple commentary is asinine. It doesn't have anything to do with "classic" menswear.

OP, what are you going to wear the shirt with?

I think everybody's missing the obvious one here. Solid navy tie. Or even a solid lavender tie.

It's a good looking shirt. But if you're going to use the pictured stripe tie, it's better if the suit is solid.

Solid midnight blue can work as well

Agree about the solid navy, or a patterned navy, but I don't agree about lavender at all. Not a fan of tone-on-tone, especially in unusual colors (which I'll concede purple is).

There are quite a few options, but I would suggest a solid khaki (very light khaki) tie (monochromatic), and preferably one that doesn't look military issued.

As for the shirt: the subtler the purple - the better.

But you haven't answered the key question: what are you wearing this shirt/tie combo with?
