What stores or brands never go on sale?

In Luxembourg, there's a high-end shoe store that has a number of top brands. The semi-annual sales discount varies widely for each, presumably based on what the manufacturers allow. Here's a sampling of the discounts:

- John Lobb 5%
- Edward Green 20%
- Santoni FAM 10%
- Stefanobi 10%
- JM Weston ?
- most others 30% (C&J, Loake, Heschung, Fratelli Rosetti)

In Milan, three brands/stores that did not discount to my knowledge:
- Marinella
- Bestetti
- Valextra

Nothing at Louis Vuitton ever goes on sale.

In the U.S. at Saks (and now Barneys) Valextra goes on sale.

My wife got me a wallet there for my birthday a few days ago... I asked the rep if anything ever went on sale, she said it's corporate policy across the board that nothing ever does.

Overpriced, yes, fakes everywhere, yes, but LV still makes some very, very high quality items.

Yes, it is true that LV boutiques don't have sales. They do have private "family sales" for employees and such where you can get RTW and shoes, but the bags are never on sale (I had a friend who worked for Dior who got invited to the family sale and picked up some shoes very inexpensively.)

As for the Hong Kong store with a sale, was it the whole store or just shoes/RTW? If there were bags on sale, then the boutique was probably not owned by LVMH. In Asia, there are tons of stores that sell LV, but none of them are licensed through LVMH. Sometimes, these stores will sell bags more inexpensively than the retail outlets (in Japan, for example, often small shop owners will get some bags from Europe when the exchange rate is good, mark them slightly less than Japanese retail ((which is already about 30% higher than the US or Europe)) and still make a decent profit).

Certain cars never go on sale. Rolls Royce’s never go on sale, nor do Ferrari’s. There is nothing wrong with a store having a sale, for they need to move older merchandise and stock the new seasons’ items. It’s the cost of doing business.

I’ve never seen a Filofax item (except for last years inserts, which no one wants) on sale.

I've seen Aldens on sale many times. Just last week, at a shoe store down the street from my office, they had a "sidewalk sale", and a few Aldens (nice models too) were marked down to $99.

Also, I've seen Hermes ties at NM last call sales and Last Call centers.

I once bought calendar inserts for a LV pocket calendar on sale, but other than that, I've never seen them on sale or even offered at a clearance center.

I've never seen Creed on sale.

What about Tyrwhitt, do they ever have sales?

That's not the only reason stores run sales though. It is also a good way to attract shoppers to the store, strengthen brand loyalty and expose customers to the new collection. People who shop the sales often end up buying items on sale + other items that are not. Sales are a really good traffic generator and POS marketing engine.

Indeed, the practice of a loss-leader is also important (RLPL is one of my favorites, or at least was, is RLX making money with RLPL now?).

I was thinking the same.
Louis Vuitton has sales for their VIP-customers.

Did you purchase them in France and when? I definitely have Corthay on my short shoes-to-get list.
