To say the city of New Orleans has been through a lot recently is an obvious understatement. So while I was pulling for the Indianapolis Colts in yesterday's Super Bowl, I couldn't be more happy for a city than I am for New Orleans.
After Hurricane Katrina, many thought this city might never recover, and there was the very real possibility that the Saints would leave town. There is still much work to be done in New Orleans but who would have dreamed 4 years ago that this city would be reveling in the euphoria of an NFL championship?
In the grand scheme of things sports is of little significance, but in this case, the Saints may have very well saved an entire city with their success on the field the past few seasons. And now the city has a champion to rally around.
