I'll say around 2003, mostly everyone was in to the Jersey fad and the baggy pants. This probably truly last up until 2005. That's when the shift was made to button up shirts, Polos, and more casual shirts. The smallest change (if you get what I mean) started in 2007. This is when everything had to be sized down and skinny jeans really became popular. Jeans didn't always have to be skinny, though. They just fit.

Everyone was into the jersey fad and baggy pants? Hardly...
However, I attribute the skinny/slim fitted phase to Hedi Slimane, and the recent cuffing fiasco back to Thom Browne.

- i think more androgynous looks have come more to the forefront.

- skinny/athletic/tailored/vintage slim/custom/whatever you want to call it fits are available in almost every brand bc dior/slimane and his embracing of a sihlouette that wasn't traditionally seen as chic has infiltrated almost every aspect of fashion.

- form fitting clothes for guys are the norm like in the 70's and 80's

- pieces like cardigans, v-neck's, u-neck's, vests have been added into the male wardrobe

- everything for women is low rise (i was watching Friends ths other day and was like 'wow, that was only 1999, but look how high rise her jeans are')

- the suit and the old world gentleman is back bc of influences like the sartorialist and andre 3000

-----

i have a folder of pics labeled 'cool outfits' and i organized them by date and was looking at some of the first pics i saved and they were from Misshapes of these hipster dudes in AA v-necks and skinny jeans and i remember thinking 'wow, i don't think i could ever pull off a vneck like that' - and now they are everywhere.' ----- i'm pretty sure they were from 2002
