I used to work for a govt owned company in the 80s. The govt wanted to corporatize the company and sell it off. As part of this they tried to change the company drinking culture. Everyone had to be interviewed by their immediate superior and answer a series of questions to find out if any of us had a drinking problem. Out of the 25 guys in my department I had the least problems with booze. I answered 19 out of 20 questions the "wrong" way, everyone else (including my immediate superior) got 20 out of 20. I felt like a real light weight.

The wife got a speeding ticket on her way to work. She was (allegedly) doing 21 over. That's not gonna be cheap.

I wield that power... I haz the power to demand a drug test to anyone at work whom I suspect(?!) of having consumed illegal substances. I also haz the power to send anyone home whom I suspect of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. and I haz the final say. I haz also used that power. I rule.

I could never tell one of my employees to go home for being drunk; that would be the zenith of hypocrisy.

I got pulled over while driving in the city that we have mutual aid with (FD arrangement) for driving while tan in a lexus. Cop tells me that the headlight was out, I told him I was not aware of this, he did his whole looking inside the vehicle with his magic wand and then asked for my license and registration came back and said he was going to let me go with a warning...are you ready for it.....I drove away and pulled over and got out to look at the headlight and apparently a miracle happend because it was on.

Freaking dick,

At least I he didn't shoot me.

The thing that sucks about the wife's ticket is that the speed limit is usually higher where she was pulled over, but it was lowered recently for construction.

Checks the weather forecast, its going to rain 1mm an hour about two hours from now, perfect I can take the dog for a walk and get back before it starts to rain and 1mm is okay.

40min later as I'm the furthest away from home as I get on the walk, it starts to pouring rain like Noah is about to set sail, so I have to walk the 40min home in pouring rain and I was wearing new raw denim, a sweater and a Down vest, so I was soaked and I just spend 20min blow drying my dog.

my company has a zero tolerence policy for drugs. when you take the job, you sign a document that says that if you are foind to have illigal subtances in your blood, you will be fired with no chance to fight it, essentially.

a year or so before I joined, our corporation bought a company, most of the employees were tech support. the boss there decided, for some stupid reason, to do a surprise drug test. p;retty much everybody failed and had to be fired. there was a discussion among all the department people never to do a test again. I've never heard on one being doine since.

the funny (?) part is that - leaving aside the occasional scotch or bourbon - I'm as drug-free as they come. Kind of like a married straight edge, without the preachy bs.
