Any thoughts on this season's crop of chinos? It looks like they're doing a regular-straight fit for the flat-front ones this year. I tried them on in-store and was pretty impressed by the fit; they're Vietnamese-made and they actually fit me true to size (unlike the made-in-China T-002's, which I find to be too big in the waist and too narrow at the hip for some reason). The only thing is that I'm not particularly impressed by the colors... both the Olive and the "Brown" (tan) are a bit bolder than I like, and they only have "Beige" (khaki) for the pleated version. I wonder if they'll fade in the wash.

mellowfellow posted some fit pics of the cropped chinos and they looked pretty nice.

Actually, I meant their regular "vintage chinos" line--the ones in the link I posted. "Crop" in this case was a metaphor likening this season's collection to-- oh, nevermind.

Are there any coats on sale at the NYC store? My toggle coat's finally given out on me, and it seems like now's about the time that winter stuff might be on sale...

Yeah - I just picked it up in beige. It's basically a Barbour International type jacket with a detachable hood and no belt. I totally dig it. It's pretty thin, but that's a plus for me honestly. I can wear it into the early summer.

Is there any way generally to gauge the fit of their shirts? I have a couple of the slim fit oxford's from this past summer when I was in NYC for a day, and no off the rack shirts fit me better than the XS I got. The sleeve length in particular is perfect. Do all of their XS tend to have these shorter sleeves? Or would I need to email them on a case by case basis?

Anyone have a Uniqlo Coated Cotton Peacoat (Navy) in XL that they want to get rid of? I tried to snag one a few weeks back but they were all sold out in that color and size.

The sleeve lengths are short in general, because Japanese people generally have shorter arms. I can wear their short-sleeved shirts just fine, but with long-sleeved ones, I've had to size up and get a shirt with a collar that doesn't fit.

Stopped by today to check out the +J stuff. The suiting looked really cheap and overpriced. The one parka that everyone's looking at was definitely the pick of the outerwear—the 'military jacket', i think, is almost parodically over-pocketed. I know heads are looking forward to the blue and red but I actually dug the beige. I held off on kopping because it's just a little too technical for anything else I have. I might grab it if it ever goes on sale. The standout, though, was the 'compacted cotton' (never heard of it) tees—long and short. $20 a pop in some nice colors. VERY comfortable. Great fit—can layer with a jacket or stand alone. I grabbed two but I might go back and get some more.
