Tonight was dinner at Bar Tartine and I had a Furmint with 6 puttonyos with dessert. It was amazing. Tokay is definitely my favorite dessert wine. The food was also very good.

IMO, in general.

Really? I have no problem paying more than $46, for Chardonnay in general, however, my cut-off for American Chardonnay is probably around $60. Beyond that, I don't mind shelling out the dough for an odd Montrachet, or Corton Charlemagne.

You may look at auctions for Sauternes. They just don't sell. Great values available in the secondary market. I know, I tried to sell some a few years ago, including d'Yquem, and they sell at low prices v red Bordeaux.

I have had some Chablis and Champs that I have enjoyed. Nothing to make me seek it out regularly though. I don't think it is bad by any means, but just not for me.

I can't compare a C-C with even the best Left Coast Chard. Manton turned me on to some fully mature C-C a while ago and it was an eye opener.

Btw, my comment was in general but Loring in particular. I mean, I have nothing against a high end Left Coast Chard, but I no longer find a reason to pay that much for them. I'll take a $20 bottle of Stefania Chard over a $55 bottle of Far Niente any day. I realized that I have been spending too much money in general on Left Coast wines and have become far more price sensitive over QPR.
