So, with the start of the month, I figured that we could maybe start a different club.
This is the OFFICIAL Reasonable Purchase Club for NOVEMBER 2014
Are you a clothing whore? Are you weak with money? Do you need some help to be strong? Well this is your chance!
Due to the incredibly pathetic attempt last month in the NPC, the club has been revised. When you are weaning someone off of drugs, do you quit cold turkey? Absolutely not! So here is an attempt at weaning off of our clothes-whoreish-ways.
The rules are simple. By signing up here, you agree to the following terms:
1) Prior to the month, you will state a reasonable amount you are willing to spend upon yourself. It can be $0, it can be $200, it can be $500. Let’s try to make it a substantial amount less than what you have been spending per month.
2) You will perform some form of maintenance on your clothes/shoes (sewing buttons, polishing shoes, etc)
3) If you would like an emergency fund, stipulate that you will make $100 available to yourself. Since the goals are different, I think this is reasonable.
4) Should you fall and make a purchase you must report the purchase here. It will be deducted from your amount. You will then resume the challenge to the end of the month. No need to report an emergency purchase. At the end of the month, we'll do an official score card.
I will tabulate the official list of participants on November 4, 2014.
For those who spend more, I am thinking that you maybe have to donate $20 to charity.
At any time during the month, should you feel weak, use this thread so others may help talk you out of a purchase (well, in theory).
Purpose? Well, last month, although I did “break,” I spent substantially less than I did in prior months. I spent a reasonably amount. So in that regard, the NPC “worked.”
Sign-ups begin today but the challenge will begin November 3 and run to October 30, 2014 at midnight.
Who among you is brave enough to try?
If you are not already a Styleforum member, I would like to coordially invite you to take 5 minutes to join our beloved forum and participate.
I am definitely IN.
