I found the original(?) here, so I'm mainly stealing the idea and words from @Newcomer.

If anyone else is like me and needs to learn some delayed gratification and does a little too much "retail therapy" then this is your thread!

Consider this a support group. As per Newcomer:

The rules are simple. By signing up here, you agree to the following terms:

1) You will spend not one penny for the entire month on any clothing or clothing-related item(s) for yourself.

2) You will perform some form of maintenance on your clothes/shoes (sewing buttons, polishing shoes, etc)

3) If you sign up before October 4, 2019* you may allow yourself an emergency fund of $100 and no more. The emergency fund is to be used only in the event of a true emergency; a funeral, wedding, or some socks/underwear, etc.

4) Should you fall and make a purchase you must report the purchase here. You will then resume the challenge to the end of the month. No need to report an emergency purchase.

I got rid of the official sign up and score card rules as I find them unnecessary. Just remember, don't beat yourself up if you falter, just get back on the wagon!

"At any time during the month, should you feel weak, use this thread so others may help talk you out of a purchase " ~Newcomer

You live in Louisiana, right? Where do you go skiing? Or are those water skis?

I grew up skiing and raced competitively until my teenage years. Specifically, my family has a small condo in Creek Side and I grew up in Canada. Now, I try to ski somewhere between 10-20 days per year.

This year I have 4 days in Telluride, 3 days in Silverton, 5 days in J Hole, and it's looking like a few days in CB. Skiing is still my number 1 hobby and I fight the urge to be a ski bum every year. This year, I'm looking forward to finally hitting Corbet's, which has been a bucket list item for me. I dearly, dearly miss when I used to ski a good 50 - 100 days a year.

Spier & Mackay released their MTO program and despite not having a job, I'm struggling to resist buying something.
