But based on what he posted that might be flirting with disaster in the long run. Unless he religiously only cold-soaked for the life of the jean they would likely (eventually) shrink down to less that a 34 inseam.
I hear it works for some people, but I've always avoided any unsanforized denim sized in such a way that it required strict adherence to a cold soak regimen less they shrink too much. This is partly because I'm picky about the inseam. I would be very displeased to put several months into breaking in a great pair, getting them to where I like them, only to have the inseam shrink to a point that I was no longer happy about.
Having said that it, it occurs to me that some have had luck in stretching a shortened inseam by tugging it hard while the denim is wet (and getting as much as an extra inch) so I suppose that offers a bit of security. But I'd still rather hold out and size appropriately (and conservatively) from the outset.
