Hello Gents,

Newbie here but eager to join Alden owner club soon. I wear US9.5D & prefer my shoes to be longer.
Can anyone tell me the length of chukka boots & longwing for size 9.5D?

TIA

Hi Tia,

You seem nice chap and while we'd all like to help you in anyway we could - those measures are just shy of worthless.

I know you're not going to want to hear this because frankly, no one does, but the only way you're going to truly gauge your sizing preference on certain lasts is to try them on yourself. You could leverage paypals free return shipping program to minimize your losses. Believe me many of us here, myself included, had wished they heeded that very same advice but instead bullishly bought an ill-fitting pair of shoes that they're destined to take a loss on. In the end you waste more time, energy, and money than you would have if your took your find the try on various sizes and widths in different lasts.

No offense, but while this is a beautiful shoe and one I would love to own, I would hardly call it quintessential Alden with the antique edge/welt and commando.  The standard 975 is pretty close to being quintessential Alden, but I would probably place the color 8 tassel mocs at the top of the list since Alden invented the model back in the 1940s.  The 403s would be right there at the top of the list also.

None taken, I just meant the fact that they are #8 LWBs really. Although commando is pretty darn 'Alden'y IMO as well. Didn't realize the history of Alden and tassels either. Definitely still learning!

I got so caught up in finding exotics that this is actually my first #8! There's something to be said for not having to resort to secondhand.

I once went 1/2 size down for a pair of Barrie's and the fit was horrible with weight bearing areas mismatched to my feet. Then i read that regarding large last shoes, VOLUME is more important.
I am usually 11D in oxfords and sometimes 11.5 D in casuals. I just got a pair of ALL Weather Walkers in 11 A/C . BINGO !

( because of *&@*#**^ scripts, it took half an hour to write this )

Jaylenotosis

It took me a bit to catch the joke. I even searched here and Google for "Jaylenotosis" thinking maybe it was the user name for somebody selling some great denim workshirts!

TSM seconds, but debating whether to keep these whiskey PTB's. The shoes have some black marks in the cordovan,, but other than that the shoes look OK. Would you keep them? I also realize for $100 I could have firsts:

Like others have said, you should keep those... unless of course they are a size 7.5, in which case you should definitely get rid of them. I'll gladly help you dispose of them.

New 8 LWBs, Antique, Commando Other than Indys, are these the quintessential Alden shoe?
According to Alden madison, the LWB, PTB, LHS and Indy are the four quintessential Alden shoes. I would have to agree and maybe add the chukka. My current rotation of these are tan suede LWB, 990, CXL LHS and Cigar Cordovan Indy.

That’s disgusting. You’re a terrible man for getting that organized. I hope you’re proud of yourself.
