Ok so I've been doing a thinking on the challenge while chained to the work bench packing orders this evening. I had 3 ideas for the challenge of which there has been a few close topics in the past. I'll leave it for some feedback and more though overnight Australia time (it's almost 11pm now) and make a final decision. The 3 ideas are as follows -

1) Navy tie challenge - We've had blue on blue but this would be much less stringent rules wise, apart from that your tie must be navy
2) Brown tie challenge - We've had the brown is for farmer challenge but that was for jackets not ties
3) Button down with a tie challenge - Thought this would be an amusing way to rile a few of you buggers up that aren't keen on the idea, and perhaps show you it can be a fine way of wearing a tie

Now I hope I'm not out of line here but I've decided to put my money where my mouth is and offer a prize for this weeks winner, which will be any tie of your choice from my range. There is no catch, you don't need to give me any "reviews" of it in return or any of that, just enjoy the tie. Hopefully this will bolster participation in the thread also.

I'll post deadlines and the like tomorrow morning.

Goodnight
Jason

That's a very attractive offer! Please don't choose idea nr. 3 then, since I don't own a single BD shirt....

^ All I'm saying is I can get behind the look in some cases. (Murl said "never")

I definitely like it with a casual SC or casual suit. It would be my preferred collar for a tweed too

Navy worsted suit is more controversial IMO.

Never was a probably a poor choice, but even the best examples, all I am left thinking is, "that would look so much better with a nice spread collar". To each is own.

I used to think the same, but the BD collar does have its place in a wardrobe. A jacket and tie look can be a bit unusual and sometimes even intimidating for others in social situations.

Wearing a button down collar, preferably made from a textured fabric, brings the formality down a notch. The whole outfit appears more casual to others, especially when paired with an unstructured jacket.

Brown or navy tie please. No button downs (don't own any).

For what it’s worth, some of the challenges I’ve found most entertaining have been those which encourage people to wear things they might not otherwise wear very often. It allows us to see things we wouldn’t see over on the WAYWRN thread.

Cheers,

Ac
