OTC, I have the feeling that your not the only one in that situation, things are ugly. Are you shorting anything to try and profit on these "dips", if you can even call them that.

If you want to short make sure you hedge your position. Its a bit late to be shorting IMO though.

So what are you guys doing about this "crisis" I currently only hold physical silver, as I dumped my personal stocks a month ago. Please tell me why trying to short stocks is a bad idea... I'm tempted to try it...

Good job on the silver. I'm still in stocks, and have tons of paper losses, but having a huge stockpile of bullion allows me to sleep at night. :)

If you are going to short, make sure you know what you're doing. Even when markets are taking, dead cat bounces abound.

Nah, I'm mostly just waiting for it to bounce back like it is doing today...my time horizon is long (its all in retirement accounts) so I am not really worried.

my only trading account is my roth IRA which I mostly use to keep my asset allocation balanced against things where I don't like the offerings available to my 401k. As such, the largest holdings in the account are real estate...the TRREX fund which got hammered last week (was $20 2 weeks ago, $15 now) and AGNC (they are down for the month...but down significantly less than the market). The rest is mostly some alternative energy stuff that has shitted up recently but I am looking longer term on and some randoms (google, citi, vodafone).

The losses probably aren't so bad when you include the 401k...but we just switched providers and the new website sucks and they switched a bunch of public funds to closed investment trusts so I can't get live prices (or even get a prospectus to read...wtf)

Up this morning on the prospect of QE3, down after we see there won't be one.

And straight back up. Some stocks I'm tracking are up 10%+ shoulda pulled the trigger during the dip. But who am I kidding no way I would have. Setting orders for tomorrow.

Heh, my biggest holding, GLUU, has a Beta of 2.0. Wildest coaster I've ever been on, and I used to trade penny stocks.

I don't anymore. Lost ****** too much.

Yeah seems quite of bit of the stocks posted in this thread are straight up gambles. Just found this thread a few days ago and it's been interesting seeing different views.

Well, it was way before I came here when I was trading penny stocks. And I meant trading.

Now, I'm holding ACTC and GPXM, but those are long term.

Well, now I have 2 stocks that are positive since open (although if you include dividends, AGNC never went negative)

Unfortunately I figured out how to wrangle my 401k website (who would have thought ML would be worse than wachovia/wells fargo) and they will only give me end of day status for yesterday...every single account is below cost basis, but I think cost basis was only calculated in the last few months when we switched providers.
