This project was started a few years ago here to document what people would choose to take with them in case of fire. While I don't think the images that people are showing are entirely realistic, it provides the basis for this round's challenge.
What is required of this challenge is for you to think of the specific garments that you would immediately grab in an event of fire, or ones that you have stashed away in a special fire-proof briefcase, and why. You could perhaps chose them out of a purely practical perspective, or sentimentality, or because they're your prized pieces that will probably never be attained again. It is important that you consider your state of mind if such a disaster were to befall upon you. For those of us who have never been in a fire, it's perhaps hard to immerse ourselves in that kind of mindset. But be as honest as possible anyway. There's no need for a fully coordinated outfit. This is a fashion forum, so consider it an exercise in exploring what you value most in your clothes.
In my case, I have picked a Balenciaga shearling aviator, ROSEN's Plato suit, Comme des Garçons ribbons jacket, and Salomon boots. I picked the aviator because it's a jacket that I have worn often during colder months, it keeps me warm and if it gets destroyed I'm afraid I will never find it again without forking out 2-3 grand. My Plato suit, I picked it out of practical and sentimental reasons. It's extremely comfortable as an everyday wear and even to sleep in, but this particular set was worn during an important life event so it has sentimental value to me. The Comme jacket (with matching shorts, not pictured) is basically a rare piece from my favourite collection that I would most likely not come across again. The Salomons are the most practical pair of shoes I own. I run and walk miles in them, and they keep my feet warm in the cold but also breathes well in the heat. So if I have to be on my feet all the time for a while these are my best option. As much as I would like to include more pieces, especially from Rick Owens, I try my best to be realistic.
I look forward to seeing your choices and most importantly, your explanations. I hope you'll have fun participating.
This challenge begins on the 6th of May and ends on the 20th of May, 2018.
