Do we have a different understanding of the word "bright". These look rather pastel or pale to me - definitely not a bright color. Or is it the camera?

No, you are right. I was going by summer colored, not bright. I am not down with 1970s golf pants.

It's probably because the question was "would you?" rather than "do you?" As in, "Would you consider wearing bright, summer-colored pants?"

I understand that but the gap between the mass of people who "would" and the ones who actually "do" wear bright red or green pants is essentially what I was highlighting with my comments. i.e.: If you would, why don't you then?

In my case, I like the concept, but have yet to justify the expenditure... there's always something I would prefer to buy. However, I did check the racks at an RL outlet for orange trousers but failed to find my size. Given that they were virtually giving them away, I'm sure I would have bought if they'd had my size.

That's why I bought them they were just $8 each... I am not a dockers lover or hater but those are just fine for the money and for casual barbeque partys

I don't think bright colored pants look good in the summer at all. Faded colors are a different story, though I don't really go in that direction.

In the fall, more vividly colored pants seem more appropriate to me than in the summer. I'll wear a pair of dark orange Incotex cords or a pair of brown-black plaid Zegna heavy flannels with a red overcheck.

I agree, I chose orange; although, there are shades along the spectrum that can be considered for perennial use. Also, red would work for me but it would have to involve micro-geometric patterns to balance its sparkle.

I don`t rule out any colors. It`s just a matter of finding the right shade.

I have a pair of Nantucket reds that I wear with regularity in the summer and a pair of very pale yellow pincords. For the winter I have a pair of golden yellow cords that are pretty bright,. I'll probably buy a pair of orange cords this year.
