Does American Exceptionalism ever get old for you?
Sure, compare the greatest British novelist ever to a few cherry-picked American examples and then declare that American literature is awful.
Faulkner? Henry James? Really?
American literature is pretty awful in general except for maybe Melville, Nabokov (if you consider him American) and a few others.
Just get a Dickens novel and you should be okay for a while.
