Sterlingwear.com shipping questions

I ordered a Peacoat from Sterlingwear last week, and I am just wondering whether I will be notified with a tracking number when they ship my coat. I haven't received any notifications since my order placement, and they have not replied to my email yet. Has anyone ordered from Canada before? If you have, how badly were you hit by the duty fees charged by UPS (I chose ground shipping) when your coat arrived?
I am hoping to get a tracking number soon so I can perhaps go through customs myself to avoid duties.

Anyone who has ordered from them care to answer?

I got a "Quantum View" notification directly from UPS when my order shipped. I don't know who they use for shipping to Canada though, so I'm not sure what they do in that case. They aren't exactly quick about getting them out either. I ordered on November 14th and should get it today. That does include a week in shipping time and the Thanksgiving Holiday though.

Sterlingwear's communication with customers is poor IMO. IIRC, I called after several weeks to ask where my peacoat was and they told me it shipped that very day. Since they don't keep non-standard colors (i.e. gray) in stock, I was told it had to be manufactured after I ordered. I have no experience with shipping to Canada.

I recently shipped some apparel to Canada and was hit (or rather, the recipient was) hard with UPS' brokerage fees. Almost $35USD for $45 of goods, on top of the $15 shipping charge. It's a racket since they don't tell you what the fees are up front, and if you refuse the package the seller has to pay for the return shipping.

From what I've heard the best way to avoid these ridiculous fees is to use EMS (via USPS).

I waited around 6 weeks for them to ship my coat earlier this year because they had to "custom-make" my coat because it was charcoal. I had to keep calling to get any kind of info from them. I got fed up waiting for it and canceled my order. Of course they said that it was just coming off the production line the day I called. I still canceled because I was so pissed off by the delay.

I guess I will give them a call tomorrow to see what's up. I hope I can get them to ship via USPS instead, as I don't want to be charged some ridiculous duty fees by UPS. :/

Does anyone know what hours the customer service line should be available? I tried calling several times last week and today (617-567-6465) but I keep on getting a voice mail telling me to either enter the 3 digit extension for the person I want to speak with or stay on the line to leave a message. :/

Pressing 0 might bring you to the operator. Maybe they'll answer their e-mail?
