Various blogs buzzing that Modric is headed to Madrid. Also circulated that Maicon is wanting to jump again as the ship that is Inter Milan sinks.

I hope not. Don't like him, can't see where he'd fit given that he prefers a recessed role - who's he going to compete with, Alonso? What's more you have Şahin waiting in the wings behind Xabi. He's not the opposite ball-winner type as is Khedira, a real box to box player. He's not going to displace Özil either. He's not a winger, so Di Maria and CR7(obviously) will maintain their spaces. Only prediction is that Kaká would be on the way out, but again - they're not the same type of player.

Fantasy wish list would add Ibrahimović and De Rossi. Maybe bring in Matthieu Debuchy at right back (but I'm one of the opinion that Arbeloa has done just fine and has never given any reason to displace him). Pepe, for all his problems, continues to prove he's a top-level defender - and as much as I don't favor his personality and ragefactor, he's one of the best in the world.

Ideal team right now: as on my copy of FIFA12 :embar:

Higuaín (FOREVER)
Ronaldo, Ibrahimović, Özil
Xabi Alonso, De Rossi
Marcelo, Ramos, Pepe, Debuchy

He accused them of doing a terrible job and hold them responsible for some delay problems..

I think he has done more than just shouting at the guy..

I would think a team w/ Roma's reputation and history could score a better shirt sponsor than Kappa...? Or at least produce something more innovative? If there's ever been a shirt that looks exactly the same season to season, it's Roma.

I guess that can be a good thing if you have a decent strip (which I think they do), but it does get a little monontonous. Roma has a very provincial mentality (although I'm sure DiBenedetto is doing his best to change that) - they are quite happy w/ using Italian sponsors like Kappa & Diadora. There have have been some nice ones throught the years, especially when you get into the 3rd/CL stuff...

Ibra? GTFO

Only player mentioned worth getting is Di Rossi. He had some excellent displays for Italy.

Otherwise, Pepe was the best defender at the Euro by a mile. Those clearing headers? Looked like they were heading out of the stadium. His compatriot looked superb as well, Alves needs a bigger club, would be perfect under Moyes at Everton or even Villa.

Marcelo over Coentrao? No ******* way. You're right, Arbeloa played pretty well at the tournament.

Is Everton or Villa truly bigger than Zenit? At least St. Petersberg are up there in CL spots each season...

Marcelo over Coentrão - you bet. All season Marcelo did the job while Coentrão faded. He seems to turn up for big tournaments (as he's played very well at South Africa as well as the recent EURO), but is not totally up there during long seasons. Mourinho started him last year, switched to Marcelo. Tried Coentrão again at about 3/4s of the year, and he went straight back to the bench.

Arbeloa infinitely underrated by Spain. Great, solid squad player.

Moutinho is a great player...

I'm surprised he wasn't taken by someone last summer. Moutinho isn't that true playmaker type, but he's a great box-to-box player with real presence and an eye for a splitting pass. Hope he goes somewhere more deserving than scum.
