I think the only advantage of the goretex version is that it would do better in a steady downpour. The tweed should hold up fine even in a light rain. Go tweed!

I think you could rock the new style zipped up with some of your baggier pants/chunky kicks

Never handled that piece specifically, but for such a basic, staple jacket, I'd say you should go high-quality—and cheap monday ain't that.

Grenson, I think Tylers? They want 104 GBP shipped (like $185). Seems steep to me for pre-worn. What would you all pay for them? Also

Every shoe you post is different, and most are terrible. I think gently worn allen edmonds in brown leather will be your best for under $75, something like the 10B's on the last page.

I know there's a lot of variation, and some are definitely ****** The thing is that I'm lacking, well, a lot. I could use some loafers for s/s but also I don't have any proper oxfords that aren't suede. Basically I need a lot of shoes, in different styles. Some beaters would be fine for casual wear, but I wouldn't mind spending a bit more for something better on my more formal occasions. Other than the AEs, anything else stand out? edit: It's the dilemma of the man with the small wardrobe. I'm always torn between variety/versatility (because my wardrobe lacks just a huge amount of essentials), and spending more on a single great item. I want to be able to put good fits together now, not in 6 months. But, on the other hand, having crap is no fun. I guess I just need to figure out how to double my salary. :p

Those grensons are pretty bad. I've never liked the shape of their lasts.

If the defect comes out on the black fleeces, i'd probably grab them.

I'm a big 46, but I don't know how much it'll stretch... it might be good motivation to finally get these last 10 pounds off though.
