Shirt collars above jacket lapels

I want to do this for my next date. This is what I want to do: t-shirt with images near the neck area, then dress shirt with top 3 buttons unbuttoned to show the images on the t-shirt, then blazer with the collars of the dress shirt above the lapels. So it will look like both the blazer and the dress shirt open into the images on the t-shirt. Good idea?

No. Terrible idea. You'll look like a d-bag.

Well, for one thing, because it's been the subject of open derision for the last forty years. The reason why Scorcese's costumer put his Henry Hill in exactly this look, along with those 9" point-collars with a 1mm spread, was to make him out as a complete jerkoff. Perhaps historical fidelity was the original inspiration, but the point was to produce a stylistic reductio ad absurdum by pushing a stupid fashion to its logical limit.

You asked for advice, you've been given advice. It looks ****. There aren't too many looks in menswear that are objectively universally **** but this is one of them.

Now either accept that and come up with a different idea for your date outfit or just go on your date and look like ****, but please don't keep arguing the toss. Believe me, I lived through the seventies and that John Travolta bollocks. It's ****!

There are a lot of men out there who think that this looks cool. I see a lot of them when I go out on weekends, usually wearing frayed jeans and awful, very pointy-toed loafers with multiple lines of stitching on the vamp. Quite often the jacket is pinstriped, just to add to the overall appeal of the look.

Edited to add: Thankfully, the "Ed Hardy" craze passed some years back, as those printed shirts were rife at one stage. Nowadays, the printed t-shirts are more likely to be from some surfing brand that slaps a fake crest or a faux-sports team logo onto a shirt and charges $80 for it.
