Based upon my base location it made total sense to make a trip to see Kotaro-san and during the last trunk the idea came up so here I am!Just as quick getting here than domestically to other parts of the UK.
Very spoilt to be able to access so easily.
A quick pit stop trip but I'll be back.
Some highlights of the afternoon.
Off for a pre dinner drink and cigar shortly.
So much charm to this city.

My appointment got moved up earlier and it worked out for me as I haven't chatted with Kaga-san for quite a while.

Ordered first suit with Kotaro, special fabric made in Japan. Dry and feels like mohair but is 100% wool. Quite the melange, almost indigo and looks navy/charcoal. Incredible hand and drape.

Is there a number or fabric reference for that? It looks perfect for making up a business suit that is conservative but also a bit interesting since it's both navyish and charcoalish

This this might be my next commission from him, thanks for posting the pic
Just copy the photo & send it to him. I’m sure he’ll know or have an idea of something similar if he’s out.

and had excellent cloth choices in mind

Agreed with this. I’ve stopped looking at online fabric books for the perfect whatever. I just tell him what I’m looking for, he comes up with two or three choices, I tell him to just pick his favorite, and that’s that. No more micromanaging on my part.

At the three trunk shows I've been to I never have much time to choose and usually follow this kind of thing. It did f@#k that strategy being in the atelier though lol
Great to see proper rolls of cloth Vs swatch samples

Isn’t that a cashmere fabric? I thought I saw that in person but can’t remember. He had quite a bit of it if I recall correctly

I don’t know. I told him I was interested in grey glen plaid suiting but didn’t see anything that grabbed me so I went with something else. If this is cashmere, I am guessing it may not be good for trousers. But I’ll show him the picture next time he’s here. I’m sure he can find suiting that is similar if this fabric is only for jacketing.

Looked at it more closely. It’s gray, I think the fabric I saw was brown.
