Was mocassin construction first used with outdoor shoes such as boat shoes and later on adapted to loafers?
Just got my Ranger mocs today. I'm on the fence as to whether they are a half size long or not. How much heel slip should I be having out of the gate and/or how much room should there be in the back of the shoe if I cram my foot all they way forward?
Thanks much

I have the similar issue myself the other day as the leather stretched out a little after some wearing. I mself then printed the scale that's available on rancourt and found out that I measure a 10.5D as oppose to a 11D on AE provided measurements. However if I tighten up a little of the shoe lace no heel slippage. So I guess I will definitely order 10.5D for my loafer in the future.
Not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same. However, the consensus on loafer seems to vary as well.
Looks like a decent deal at Barneys:

Those are ugly as sin. That nasty sole ruins an otherwise handsome shoe. Rancourts are further reduced at RL. $150.
