I received a pair of Darltons that I ordered last Thursday at a discount (thanks to this forum) and I am extremely pleased with their appearance, much sleeker and dressier than they appeared in the picture. Anyways, I ordered them in my usual size (11) and they are just too big, they are not tight at all through the length of the shoe (I read that they are a bit tight when new) and my toes are way too far from the tip of the shoe. I want to exchange them for a smaller size, do they typically run around a half size larger than their stated size or is it more? Is this true of the other C&J or EG shoes sold through RL?

Thanks

I wear an 11 (usually a D, sometimes a C) and the Darlton's fit fine... slightly tight in some areas but nothing out of the ordinary. I do agree that the length may be slightly longer than usual, but not too bad on my foot.

I found that my Darltons fit tighter in width and length than all the other 11D shoes I have. I'm pretty close to E width however, and it sounds like you're closer to C.

My darltons run tighter than my AE's of the same size.

My Darltons run true to size, or maybe a bit wide in the toes. But my feet are slim 12Ds.

I normally wear 10.5D, but based on the loose fit of my 10.5 McCallum chukkas, I bought the Darltons in size 10. If you think they are too long as-is, you might want to go down a half size--they take a long time to soften up, but when they do you might find your foot sliding around.

I believe the Darltons are designed on something similar to the Crockett and Jones benchgrade 325 last. They are a bit wider in the toe box compared similarly sized shoes.

According to email from CJ, they _are_ made on the 325 last. Edit: To give a more complete answer to your original question, I find that Polo shoes made on C&J's 337 last run 1/2 size long. One example that I own is the brown suede Alton wingtip. I bought a US size 11.5D instead of my usual 12D after trying on the shoe in the store. Unfortunately, I can't give a complete list of Polo shoes on the C&J 337 last. Perhaps someone else knows.

Here is a pic of the CJ Grasmere, which is on the 325 last and is english E-fitting, which should translate to a US D.

It has a stitching pattern identical to my Darltons. The only differences I can see are the metal eyelets on the Darltons and the Brown as opposed to color 8 cordovan.

I contacted my local store today and they did not have the blutcher in 10.5 in stock but will get a pair by the middle of next week for me to try on. It should be a better fit for my feet, if not I will stick with the 11.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I found this thread and have a question about the fit. Should the shoes bow out around the opening like this?

I don't have narrow heels. I wear a D width and have never had this happen before. Does it mean the shoes are too large?
