How do you guys think a shoe like this would stand up in the snow/ ice? It's got a lug sole, but It seems like salty water would corrode this leather pretty quick, especially at the places where it's punched for the patterns. General impressions welcome too. There's still a full size run at PS UK so maybe I'm crazy for thinking it looks nice.

got my size 8 kasmins, i'm glad i couldn't find any 8.5's because these 8's fit great. kind of a ***** to get on at first though, (which is why i originally wanted backzips rather than sidezips) nice and snug all over, and less long-looking than the 9's, which is exactly what i wanted.

getting dark out now (damn these short winter days) so i'll take a fit pic tomorrow all in all, not bad for £145 thanks for the sizing advice zippy and cez! edit- almost forgot, anyone in the UK thinking of ordering from kurt geiger, make an account a few days before, because after a couple days they email out a coupon code for £20 off your first order. should be a size 9 kasmin popping up there soon when they get my return.

I just don't like those types of soles. On boots and on shoes. Don't work for me at all.

I think IRL it wouldn't be that bad, because you're never looking straight at the sole, but down at the shoe. Still, yeah, the uppers and sole are a little incongruous.

I think black is the worst color for showing salt stains.
I kind of like the sigaro suede ones but they probably wouldn't do well with salt either.

And unrelated to the above, new grey suede Cages on the UK site.

What is your true size? I wear a 9.5 in normal shoes. What would you recommend?

i seem to be a 9UK in most other shoes i've tried on, 8.5UK in stuff with elongated toes like my loake sharp dress shoes (i must have narrow feet), and the general consensus when i was reading up on sizes for the kasmin was to go half a size down from your usual size (usual paul smith size? i forget).

what is kinda strange is in the US i mostly wore 10.5 to 11 US, though i didn't spend much time on sizing and it was mostly just sneakers. maybe i've been wearing shoes a bit big all my life...

as for what size to get... if you're a US 9.5 you could probably do UK8, maybe UK7.5, but i'm in no way an authority on this, haha. I could have easily suck with UK9, as there was no heel slip or anything, i just didn't want alot of extra space in the toe, so i sized down some more.

My sneaker size is 11-11.5 but I wear a us9.5-10 and UK 9 in dress shoes. I should get a pair of ricards in the next few days so I'll post how that works.

^^ looking good.

^welcome to the world of 'professional boots'
lol8[1].gif
(that's how I described them when I got mine).

I'm hoping to make the Fremonts my first PS fall purchase. They have the lug sole like the Royale, but I think the boot style looks better. Can anyone help me with sizing? I wear Ricards, Bihars, and Chens for reference points. Thanks in advance as always. Having never been to a retailer in person, this thread has been a huge help with sizing and really made it possible for me.

Also, has anyone seen the Fremont available in black? I've found it in brown and oakwood but I feel like I've seen it in black before.

PauYAY, haven't tried on Royales or Fremonts but they sure look like they fit big. I'd go 1/2 size down from a Ricard but that's just a wild ass guess on my part.

Purple Grands and Sigaro Marcellos from PS UK.
They don't look that purple in normal light.
