Has the part about who actually did that been missed out? At what stage does it properly come up in the books? I should really read them again.

Whoever said characters are complicated in asoiaf is completely correct, this isn't Star Wars, there's no clear cut good and bad. It's a harsh world full of people willing to do what they need to do to survive.

has not been brought up yet so y'alls shut your mouths or spoiler it .

Tyrion baits joffrey about the dagger before his wedding after he remarks on the valyrian steel sword he receives. Jaime then figures out later that he did it after hearing Robert suggest that the boy would be better off if the fall had killed him.

has sex with sister fathering children. kicks child off wall with intent to kill. tries to have injured child murdered. jamie is a *************.

not to mention his general **** attitude and manipulation/lack of regard for others, but that alone would just make him a political player. not the ************* he is.

I think Jaime is actually one of the better characters. Wily but quite subject to manipulation (at least from Cersei - he's infatuated with her and will do what she wants like kick Bran off a wall) - at least according to the show. He's quite compelling despite his flaws.

For families that are supposed to go back hundreds of years, they sure do seem to have pretty linear family trees, don't they?

Not really, Ned cheated on his wife and expected her to raise another woman's child without complaint. Pretty douchey. Joffrey is a child of incest, not surprised he ain't perfect. I really think you guys are too hard on him.

What's wrong with all those? I like Jamie's character.

We don't actually know if Ned cheated or not. Plus, he was never meant to marry Cat in the first place, poor guy just had that crazy shoved on him.

But, he did bring home a child he claimed to be his own, fathered after he was married and put the child in his household equal to his highborn children.

Yes, but we still don't know the story there. The likelihood is that it is Lyanna's child, his blood, and that his oath to her was to protect the child from Robert Baratheon, his closest friend. Would actually somewhat parallel Jaime's story--what oath does he uphold?

Are you really asking me what's wrong with kicking a child off a wall intending to send him to a horrific death?
