I thought I read somewhere that Erikson intentionally began in the middle of the narrative arc. Something about messing around with the conventions of storytelling to create dramatic tension, maybe...

The scene taking control of the Unsullied was well handled.

Agreed. The Nights Watch revolt wasn't bad. Would have liked to see Sam panic and freeze, staying with the Old Bear as he died, though. Although it's probably a throw away, LC Jeor Mormont's statement to Samwell that he wants Jorah to join the Nights Watch to redeem himself is a nice scene in the book.

Great episode for me. Danny rules!! I kinda knew she could understand what the bald dude was saying from the start. He got what he deserved.

cant speak for how it compares to the book, but that scene was the best part of the episode for me. followed by the look of terror in theons eyes when he realized what just happened.

the scene with the nights watch was excellent, as was the scene with visyrys (sp) and the granny.

almost felt bad for jamie ay how poorly he is being treated.

best episode of the season thus far for me.

Don't underestimate the scene with Sandor and Lord Beric. I love Sandor and Arya so of course it was great for me. There were a lot of great scenes this episode.

Mayhaps the Kingthalyer looked a little too good with his left hand me thinks.

Sandor is the Hound. His brother Gregor is the Mountain. Sandor is only 6'6" and much better spoken. Gregor is his older brother. Some 7"+ and 400 pounds. He wields a greatsword like a longsword. They went at it at the tourney of the Hand when the Mountain was about to kill Ser Loras for tricking his stallion by riding a mare in heat.

Sandor is the one captured. Ser Gregor and his men are still out pillaging the countryside. Robb Stark's uncle Edmure Tully (Cat's brother) screwed up when he attacked him instead of letting him fall into Robb's trap.

That was a great episode. Liked the scene with Tywin and Cersei. "You're not as smart as you think you are" I feel bad for Theon.
