I get the costco 2% cash back every year. Its a nice little bonus that comes every February and to my knowledge the only incentive program that is paid in dollars vs discounts.

But I agree, acquisition of durable material goods = real wealth.

I meant for AMEX specifically since I generally won't use CC's other than to maintain accounts necessary for a high FICO score.

Agreed. I ordered a BB shirt online on 2/15 that had been back-ordered for a month, so I went to the store to go pick it up this afternoon locally. While my card had not been charged yet, the "purchase" had been made, as there is no obligation to cancel orders already made before the date. Had I purchased another shirt while there it would have clearly violated club rules. I did buy some Barbour wax to wax my jacket at the Orvis store next door, but I assumed that was kosher.

The point is that I had already pre-cleared these purchases with Club management because the swatches were sent and the sample order was being made up. The "process" was already underway and approved. The only difference is that I chose four swatches instead of the three I had initially mentioned in my membership application.
