Hi all,

Recently purchased these bad boys at Harry Rosen (a Canadian mens wear store), and want to make sure I made a decent purchase: http://www.ferragamo.com/shop/en/ca.../fortunato2-662386--1#pId=6148914691233763866. They cost me 680CAD.

Three questions for the experts:

Does anyone have a similar pair, and have they lasted you? I won't be wearing these extensively but would like a shoe that goes the distance.

Can I determine wether or not the have a goodyear welt, and will they be easy to resole / repair if need be later down the road? I can't see stitching on the sole, and don't believe these shoes fall into the Tramezza line, which would lead me to believe they don't have a goodyear welt. Is this a deal breaker?

I feel they're a bit "edgy" because of the shine (which I like). Will this likely be out of fashion soon or can I trust that they'll be appropriate for years to come.

Effectively, I'm wondering if I overpaid (if so, going to return them).

I know little about shoe construction / fashion so appreciate the help. Cheers!

The shoes are not in the tramezza line and the sole I believe is a rubber sole adhesed and slightly stitched on. It won't be out of style at all really but I don't know if you want to wait till shows go on sale?

I mean the shoes will last but construction is construction, looks matter a lot. Whether it's too much depends on you.

I guess what I'm wondering is if the build quality is not on par with the price I paid for these guys. I frankly don't care if the sole is glued instead of stitched, as long as this doesn't affect their ability to be resoled and repaired if I need to do so. I quite the look and find them extremely comfortable.

I mean I'm sure you can bring it back to get it readhesed at a ferragamo store. I think their shoes are alright and do last but if worth is up to you.

Since it's rubber resole is not possible. Readhesed is.

At this price range I would say give carmina, Enzo bonafe, Allen Edmond, Alden, Crocket & jones a try. For example mass drop is running carmina rain last special currently for 350$ which is a steal & comes with a carmina shoe tree & JR leather sole which normally has upcharge. If it's not tramezza line it's not worth it & you are better off with brand I mentioned above. Just my two cent

I ended up going with a black Loake Aldwych model for 500CAD. I'm very pleased with my purchase; the feedback on here tipped me to returning the Ferragamos and I'm glad I did.

500 CAD? I got my Aldwych for ~240 USD through Pediwear. I suggest searching online in the future!
