Caran D'Ache makes nice writing instruments. I use the pen version all the time. Need to get a nice mechanical pencil, but it will probably be a Lamy as I really like those.

Just wanted to share some thoughts since this thread brought to my attention that there were mechanical pencils out there other than the BIC plastic ones I've been using for ages. After seeing what you guys had said I narrowed my results down to the Uni-ball Kuru Toga and the Rotring 600. I wanted something with some weight that felt good in the hands with a solid construction. I couldn't find the all metal Kuru Toga so I went with the Rotring. I can't believe what I've been missing all these years. The Rotring is an excellent writing instrument and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade. The only thing I'd mention is to make sure you choose a pencil lead that suits your writing. The Rotring comes with HB lead, which is fine, but I'll probably move up to something harder later.

. . . which I've come to prefer the cleaner aesthetic lines of anyways.

Therefore, I need to buy a few more Rotrings. Anyone have an opinion on where best to get them? Got my last batch off ebay a few years ago. Looks like the places I find now are considerably more expensive than what I remember paying.

Just bought a Pelian D201 demonstrator in amber. It's nice. Got a Kuru Toga from jetpens during the week and I don't see what the fuss is about.
