Leather/Beaded bracelets on men

WTF is the deal with these? To me it just looks like "flair" for grown men in suits. It may have reflected an awareness of culture or whatever when people were buying these on treks in Thailand, but now you just log onto gilt. Did everyone trade their big thick snap button leather bracelets (which were also godawful) in for these? It looks stupidly pretentious on 99.9% of the guys wearing these. Are these the same guys who carry The Life of Pi around to whip out at coffee shops? Thoughts?

As long as you can pull it off without looking like you're trying too hard - I think they can look OK. For the record - I cannot do this :p
