I think Saab recommendation on Jaguar thread would be very appropriate as these two makes competing for the most unreliable poorly designed car of the decade.

I had a misfortune of owning Saab 900 Turbo SE, sedan lift back. That was the most unreliable car I ever owned.
On the positive note the seats and stereo were superb in that Saab. So if one wants a smoking shed with a good stereo for your back yard please look at Saabs.

Re: the Saab recommendations: as I went through the test drive process, I became convinced that I wanted a rear-wheel-drive car.

If I didn't already have a Passat, I would have considered a Saab.

****. Someone stole my hood ornament at the mall today. $215.00 plus labor to get a new one.

S/he stole the one off the S-type next to me as well.

!

That's pretty poor. It's just...poor. Can you just rip it off that easily?

I think Chuck reported a similar occurence with Jill's S. It's the only thing the Growler has on the Leaper.

They started designing them that way so the paint and surrounding metal wouldn't be marred when someone tries to take it off. We've had our Mercedes and BMW badges stolen a few times and it cost more to fix the paint scratches then it did for the new badge. Why people do this is beyond me.

It was something of an alternative/punk statement to steal Mercedes-Benz ornaments back in the '60s and '70s since that marque was still a bit of a status statement in those days. Also, not to mention that the hood ornaments were quite large back then.

Why people do it today is stupid.

No, actually, a "road hazard" of some sort flew up off the road and knocked it off. But since it scratched the hood on the way off, it was $900!!! ARghhh.

We enjoy the S-Type for comfort. But the X-Type they give us as a "loaner" is actually more fun to drive. Spunky!

We might be able to catch the bastard.

We were only in the store for 15 minutes, so they think there's a good shot that the security camera caught them. I've got the A-team working on it.

P.s. sorry to hear about it. How is the car so far, other than that?

The car has been great.

I'm really impressed with the V-8 and ZF ****** combo. I haven't had an automatic in years, so I was worried that it wouldn't be any fun, but this combination is a gem. The sport mode kick-down is quick; no hunting for gears. I'm glad I sprung for the V-8.

I'm surprised at how good it is in the snow/ice, very aggressive traction control, which can be switched off.

Averaging 28 hwy, 17 city.

Like Aaron said.
The perps had wire cutters to cut the cable that attaches the leaper to the hood. They left behind the mounting bracket (since the bracket and leaper are sold as a set, it's essentially worthless unless one is going for that Flava Flav look).
