JCrew 501's + JCrew Timex =

All kidding aside, is there ANY real difference in the JCrew 501's and the normal ones?

Yes. The J Crew 501s I saw in the store, for $98, look like they come in two washes--a sort of rigid dry wash (dark) and a regular wash (lighter color). The rigid dry also have some predistressing--honecombs and wrinkles, etc.

To me they look only a notch better than the washed 501s you could pick up at Sears for 40 bucks.

And then why would you buy washed 501s anywhere instead of the STFs?!

After I remarked to the SM at the store that the 501 STFs I was wearing I picked up CHEAP at SEARS, I apologized and told him I probably shouldn't have blurted that out. To make up for it a bit, I lied and said, "The 501s (in the store) are nice but I'm not going to buy any..." And with this sort of sly knowing grin, the SM guy finished for me. "...because you know better...."

Sorry, have to ask, what does STF stand for? I am sure it's going to be a DUH for me, but...

Ah ok! I thought it was short for a store's name, but I couldn't for the life of me figure it out.

I am thinking about getting some cheap 514's Macy's has in a dark wash. For $30 it seems a good deal to me.

You'd be better going for 501 STFs for around the same price. Quality of the washed Levis jean is just not there. Plus the 501 fit is more flattering, imo.

Are the new chambrays in the stores yet? I'm torn between the J Crew ones and trying to track down an EG workshirt.

Was in my local store today and it looks like they got in some new goods.
Lots of shorts, t shirts, and cotton sweaters.
Didn't really see anything I liked besides a pair of khaki cargo pants.

^^That looks dorky as hell, if Ryan Gosseling (?) looks dumb in it I doubt we could look better.

I think it looks quite nice and he wears it well. That he's not wearing them with jeans is a wise choice.
