At this point, gheystuds.com is probably a better place for an internship than Merrill.

Ok lets get serious. You are being a douchebag. Just get into a top school first, then worry about the rest starting sophomore year. EDIT: I see you are going to Rutgers. Get straight A+s for one year, transfer to Columbia. Then you might have your dream career of financial cockslobbery. Not from Rutgers.

There are a lot of rumors that get thrown around about IBD recruiting.

For GPA, 3.5 seems to be the min. for white males. There's flexibility if you're a female or a minority.

this is epic fail waiting to happen... You really have to be prepared for a lot of work and disappointment, just because you have like a 2100 SAT doesnt mean the real world is that hospitable

Anyway, im a finance/math major at a middle of the road school (think something like rutgers) I have a 4.0 and whatnot with apps pending in 7 higher tier unis (so far Im rejected from cornell(Which should've been safety!!!) and waitlisted at uva.) I have a 2300 SAT but transferring is not as easy as everyone says it is.

succeeding in the real world is a little bit harder than you think. The only worthwhile summer gig I could find was at a small investment firm but that is the product of at least 30+ cover letters/resumes/job fairs/sucking off my contacts/luck and a fairly decent resume.

I really wish you the best of luck but it seems like you missed the boat. I am slowly starting to realize this, so I am trying really hard to make many backups - I'll probably hedge my study program into financial engineering while aiming for a top 1% LSAT so I can keep my options open.
