Easy four miles testing a new model of shoe (well, new to me, at least). Also - seem to be getting a cold (again!), and stress is really winding me up this week.

5.6 in 40.54 on a treadmill. Too cold outside.

Thanks to all for the postive words. I'm gunning for a sub 1:25 when I run the Manhattan half in March. We'll see.....

Windchill, this a.m., 12 degrees! Ran 4 miles, 35 minutes. Light snow, traction dicey at times. It's neat seeing the footprints of other early morning runners in the fresh snow.

Windchill, this morning, is -1 degrees. I toughed it out for about a half hour and ran 3.5 miles.

6 mile tempo run.

Question: Anyone use a gps system? I'm thinking of getting the Garmin Forerunner 205 (~$155). Any suggestions for a simple, easy to use gps in that price range? Thanks.

last year i was going to buy the 305 but my wife surprised me with a 405. Its pretty good but I was seriously considering the 205 because of the price. I read that the 305 is super improvement over the 205 and you can find it for less than$200 actually around the $155 range here (http://www.google.com/products/catal...wAg#ps-sellers) even the 405 (my old version ) is less than $200. people still prefer the 305 to the 405 on the running forums.

Thanks Lawrence - I didn't know that I could pick up the 305 for under $200.

^^^ through the years the Mrs. has bought for me the Nike + ipod system, two Polar heart rate monitors, and various other running-related gewgaws. I can't be bothered to use any of them. She tells me that the iPhone has a GPS running app, and I can't even bear to think about that.

Ipod + watch is about all the technology I can stand; sometimes I run to get away from technology.

I don't think I'm hardcore enough for a GPS watch but the 305 looks great. My friend who owns one loves the heart rate monitor feature.
