How do you buy your shoes?

Would you say you're not buying anything you haven't tried, or would you buy over the phone or online in case you already own the same make, last and size? Do you purchase a pair of shoes that you are not familiar with as long as you know you can return it, or do you rely on recommendations and descriptions of others only?

How are your experiences and what do you recommend?

Guess I should have allowed multiple choice. Is there a way of altering that?

I have had really great success buying shoes online. I have purchased from Bennies, eBay and Polo and have gotten quite a selection of EGs, Grenson and C&J shoes. If I really miss the mark on size, I return them or re-eBay them.

I always admire the gutsiness of taking ebay into consideration when buying something. Guess I am either a ***** or just too lazy to go and put stuff I don't like on ebay.

I always buy my shoes in the shoestore, after trying them on and giving the salesperson a hard time. Mostly I buy the shoes at their retail price, unless I really come over something during sales. I take a great pleasure in buying my shoes and I am always looking forward to my next purchase, thinking of what could best complement my current shoe collection. Normally, I only buy one pair of shoes every 6 months more or less, and I do not by high end shoes but normally limit myself to the EUR 250-EUR 300 range, so it is not a big deal for me. I never felt tempted to buy online.

None of the options really fit for me. I would fit in the: "I purchase shoes over the phone or online on a hunch even if I can't return them and then I sell them on ebay if they don't fit" catagory.

Any new make or last, I always buy the first in person.

After that, anything goes!

Shoe fairy, you're creeping me out a little. Are you a good fairy or a bad fairy? Don't you buy something because it's... special, and not just because it's new?

All my children are special, that's a given. I'm trying to adopt as many Romanian, Hungarian, Italian and English oprhans as possible.

Think of me as the Mia Farrow of the Shoe Fairies.

Does that make someone who purchased the Schubert Custom Korean shoes a Woody Allen shoe fairy?

I do like going to a shop and having a good chat with the sales people...
Internet is cold and except the package arrival ,the excitement is minimal.
Shoes are my passion and it is always a pleasure to collect information ,anecdotes and also inside information concerning certain models or collections....

I have my little ritual ...I go to London or Paris for the day and i do treat myself....
I call that the shoe experience which is including a train journey (not too long) ,a nice walk through Saint-James Park to see my friend the pelican or alongside the banks of the Seine ,a good restaurant (not too expensive) and a great pair of shoes (very expensive)....

Buying shoes must be something a bit mondane ,a bit special...I do feel like a child buying for the day the most beautiful thing he can afford and that's a lovely feeling...
