help me find a new go to outfits for parties

The standard go everywhere outfit for late 20s on:
1. dark jeans
2. white button-down, slim fit, button or two undone
3. charcoal or navy blazer, something more on the fashiony side.
4. good shoes

If you are really worried and don't know what it'll be, leave the pants to match the jacket and a tie in your car trunk (assuming you are driving). Try and arrange to pick up the girl and ask her to change at her place if she shows up at the door in cocktail-wear - say that you just came from a casual event or something.

Actually, go the other way, show up in a killer suit and then just say you came from something dressy if she shows up to the door casual - it'll sound better

this is the best response i've heard. looks good and you can step it up a notch, just with a change of pants. i've always been afraid of the white button down at parties those, as here in sydney, its hot as hell and that jackets coming off. maybe a nice vest would help protect the shirt.
