I'm looking to buy a pair of shoes that will be fairly versatile. I'd ideally like one pair of shoes that will work with a suit (I have navy, charcoal, and grey) and also a bit more dressed down, like with a sport coat. I was thinking a dark-ish brown would work with all of the above, so that's where I've started looking. I browsed eBay and picked out a few to get started.

Can you give me advice on style, color, etc.?

A few examples I've been looking at:

1 or 3 are fine. 2 is on the formal side of things and not as versatile.

Get some dark brown bluchers. I do like those Aldens in the photo.

Will you be running in a sport coat? Versatility Shmersatility. Monks are the true versatile shoe, most dressed-down as far as leather goes.
