Navy, purple.

Let's pretend that polo shirts are never shiny, patterned, or prominently labeled. Medium blue, navy, and the underrated purple work on just about anyone and in any circumstance where polos are appropriate. Dark red, medium/dark gray, and medium/dark brown work on almost anyone.

I don't think you can ever go wrong with navy, especially paired with some lightweight khakis in the summertime.

If I remember correctly, TheApple is a troll. He was banned last as "MrPoloGuy" and has had a few other usernames.

Whose the monster that rated a TheApple thread more than one star? Fess up. And hosssososo, sadly I don't think he's a troll.

My favorite polo is the navy polo with the red horsey

Mine: navy, white, dark pink, sage green, olive, and light or medium blue. I abhor striped polos, but I like a little piping in the collar and sleeves. And I don't wear branded.

I also have a few pesonal rules about polos: they have to be slim-fitting, they can't be worn from about the middle of October through March (unless they're long-sleeved), they are never, ever tucked in, and they are totally wrong for wearing to the office (I read some goofy advice on "appropriate office wear" that you automatically have "rank" if you're in long sleeves and others are in short--I've been heeding it ever since).

I always thought long sleeve t-shirts looked kind of weird.

A small rule of mine is that polos should always be that roughish material and not that smooth shiny crap.

Pique, in other words. I like it generally but I'm willing to go for other material as long as the design is good. Regarding long sleeves, some polos are good in long sleeves. See James Bond in the shoot-out scene near the end of Casino Royale for a good example.

All I consider with polos is what looks good with my skin tone. Surely you know what colours work best on you?

I'm blonde with fair (pale) skin. Blue is the obvios choice - I have several blues. Green is next, brown and red also look very good on me. Colours that look utterly HORRIBLE on me are yellow and orange.

Basically mirror the colours you usually wear.

Same here, yellow (especially a mustardy yellow) and orange make me look like I have jaundice or am already dead.

I also avoid light beige, which makes my features disappear altogether.

Definately match colors with skin/hair for polos (or any clothes for that matter).

Can I also ask why the comments against striped polos?

If I am just wearing a polo with jeans, it's almost always striped or patterned. How boring is a single colour?!
