but received my GMTO the dark brown suede oxford. Stunning in person, love the suede. The dark brown color is also superb...stock photos lighting make it out to have some gray tone (at least on my screen).

The fit out of the box is perfect, more so than the half brogue dark brown calf oxford shoes I picked up. I guess the suede is more forgiving (FWIW the calf have broken in nicely).

They're really two different kind of shoes, and I love them both. And as always Steve is great to deal with.

Can't wait to see what else is coming!

"Maiden voyage" indeed... about 10+ hours on foot, first wear. Very comfortable (more on this later).

Regarding the heel, I now understand how some say Carmina heel fits a bit loose. I don't mind it, really. Questions is should I use shoe trees in respect to the shoe size or size down one? Will it stretch out the shoe even more?

You'll need a suede brush and Nano protector primarily.  Eventually, you may need suede shampoo and eraser.  See Hanger Project:

Thanks you for the tips and links. Much appreciated. I suppose the schampo is used when you've messed up the shoes despite using nano? Or is it used to nurture the calf? And the eraser.. to erase scratches and scuffs? Sounds simpler to maintain than normal calf. If that's the case, I may end up with several pair of suede shoes in the immediate future.

Much easier to maintain than calf. With the Nano, suede is great for rain & snow. I learned an early lesson when I wore Swims over my suedes and that actually had a harsher outcome than rain because the top edge of the Swim cut into the suede nap.

The only drawback to the Nano is that it doesn't last very long.

Not at all. I have used it on a variety of suede colors with no ill effect

considering it was what, 6 / 7 months on the MTO shell boot I'm waiting from steve, i know about the shell waiting game.

not that it bothers me; rota is decent at the moment; but do want a navy shell or some sort.

I have not had this experience although others claim they have. I start spraying away from the shoe, then go over the shoe in a continuous sweep always keeping the spray can about 12" from the shoe.

I used Nano on my noix suede loafers which are very light. They darken slightly after application but when they dried they look pretty much the same. I don't know that it makes the shoes as indestructable as the video made it seem though. I went to a bar and someone dropped a shot glass on my dark brown monks and the rim left an imprint on it. This was less than a month after I applied it and they haven't been through rain or anything. I ended up using an eraser and a rubber brush and aggressively applied pressure until it disappeared. I don't know that that was good for the suede but it worked. Also, some blue from my jeans got on my shoes which sucked. Not sure if that was before or after the nano though.

As far as I understand it only protects against liquids. Scuffs and indentations are still going to leave a mark/imprint on the suede. I guess that's where the suede brush and eraser come in. Just be careful about "hitting" the shoe and where you walk.
