Just a thought, my personal GG grail list:

Wigmore, in burgundy grain/calf combo
St. James in vintage cherry
Sinatra in black
Cambridge in vintage oak
Arran in mole suede

Feel free to post your own personal lists... :slayer:

Cheers...I only asked as I have a pair of EG Chelseas in Mink Suede and, to my eyes, they looked almost darker than these mole St James IIs.

I would love to see the St James II on MH71 in Polo Suede. The TG 73 just doesnt do anything for me.

I think every manufacturer uses his own colour names (different than what the tannery use) as to hide where their materials come from. After all, mink can come in all shades. EG might use 'Mink' for a very dark shade, I have seen 'Mink' also used for lighter shades.

The tanneries use really unsexy names, often codes. That's the main reason G&G and the others come up with their own names. This way the makers can also change from one tannery or leather merchant to another without having to change the name of the color, they just need to find a producer/merchant with a product that is close enough to the original color.

The most logical way would of course be to use a color palette system like NCS or similar, but how fun would it be to say “hey I just bought a new pair of St. James II in S 7020-Y70R”.
